Why Willpower Doesn't Work

So much of the messaging around weight loss is that it is the individual's fault for the results they are currently have. So if they are overweight or obese or don’t have control around food, society tells us that there must be something wrong with that persons willpower or self worth and they they are just inherently broken people. Of course I don’t believe that at all and in this podcast I’m going to explain why,  but I did believe that about myself for a long time, and most of my clients come to me saying “I’m not strong enough,” “I can do everything else, why can’t I do this” or “something is seriously wrong with me” or “I’m in healthcare, I know EVERYTHING there is to know about nutrition, I council my patients on this stuff, but why can’t I get it right myself.”

I wanted to learn more myself about why willpower doesn't work, so I decided to read the book "Dopamine Nation" by Dr. Anna Lembke and share  some of the amazing things I learned as they relate to food and weight loss in this podcast.

If you are looking for more individualized help with this and know you also might have an emotional relationship with food, I am happy to help you navigate that. Get on the waitlist for my next group by popping over to my website.
